Item specifics:
This listing is for the black template frame filled in WITH translucent white filament. There are no holes (except the top hole to hang it). I have another listing for a Jesus frame with only the black frame and holes in each section that you would need resin tape and resin to complete. This is not that listing.
These are printed in a biodegradable 3D filament. As is common with 3D printing, you might see print lines. Color can vary slightly between each batch. This listing is for black templates, but we can do them in any color so just message if you need a different color, size or even design.
Ground shipping should cost between $4-18 if you are in the US. If it is more than that, please reach out to me and I will see what the trouble is.
Dimensions are approximate:
-Template: 3 1/2 inch wide x 4 3/8 inches tall x 1/16" thick. The circle at the top and adds 1/4 inch extra to the overall height but you can get it printed without the loop too. The black frame part sticks up a bit more than the translucent clearish white.
*Be advised, it is wise to keep template supervised or away from children. We will not be held responsible for any injury caused by this template. Also note, these are 3D printed so they will have imperfections. You may see lines. You may even see a few black lines in some of the clear areas. No one is exactly perfect but you should find the imperfections workable and acceptable. (About 1 in 10 is held back and deemed not acceptable and my children color those!)
Ideas on how to use faux stained glass frames:
1. Many people use Sharpie markers to create a stained glass effect. They are designed to color on the front but often times people will color on both sides (because it’s fun and they aren’t ready to be done with the project yet). Some people spray them with an acrylic spray on top of the marker. Some people cover them in a glossy mod podge. Some people have used rubbing alcohol with sharpie to spread, dilute or remove some of the color. Personally I think sharpies are best for children ages 5-10 but people older than that can also use this method and find enjoyment. Many girls camps used this method last year.
2. Some people choose to paint these with a stained glass paint, acrylic paint pens (many like the brush tips best), acrylic modeling paint…The black part looks best if it can stay black so this activity is best for people 9+ I feel.
3. Using clear UV resin over top the sharpie is also a fun effect some people have liked. Some people have used colored resin in each of the holes. Personally I love the look of resin and find it to be a very enjoyable craft for responsible young women or even adults. As an adult, I found fulfillment in this method. I have seen this activity done a couple times as a mother/daughter activity and it was super successful. I would not do it with children or immature youth.
4. We’ve even had people tear paper and put in those tiny spots and mod podge them in! Another I just heard of is mod podge colored with food coloring. Haven’t tried those ones.
Honestly there have been so many beautiful and creative ways to use these. That’s why I generally recommend purchasing an extra one so you can experiment a bit before committing on a style. If you order more than 30 you may ask me to include a flawed one in your order to practice on but the flawed one won’t necessarily match what you ordered but it will be a faux stained glass.
You can also check out my Etsy review section. People have included how they used them or added pictures of finished products. Those are sometimes helpful too.
****Warning**** Keep out of hot car or hot mailboxes. these may warp in hot summer weather. It was 110 yesterday and a bunch of 10 of these sat in my car for over an hour and they warped. I think I can fix them by getting them warm again and putting them between a couple of books, but don’t make the same mistake I did!
